DBS Dovetail

One of the corner joints D.B.S. offers is an English Dovetail construction, also called a “blind” or “half” dovetail. We use only high quality production equipment to produce this detail.

DBS offers the high quality and distinguished English Dovetail corner construction. English Dovetail is also referred to as a “blind” or “half” dovetail.
The dovetails are set in 1″ increments.
The front & back of the box are 1/16″ taller than the sides unless ordered as flush.
Heights are best ordered in whole or half inch increments.
Dovetail is the recommended corner for all solid woods.
Dovetail is recognized as the highest quality and strongest corner joint by the public.
DBS recommends this corner joint for all types of cabinetry, office furniture and residential furniture.

DBS Doweled Corner

One of the corner joints D.B.S. offers is Bore & Dowel construction. We use only high quality, state-of-the-art production equipment to produce this detail.

DBS offers the sturdy and reliable bore and dowel construction, using a 32mm system and 6mm hardwood dowels.
The front and back sit inside the sides, leaving the end grain of the sides exposed.
The sides are 1/16″ taller than the fronts and backs, unless ordered flush (if available).
DBS recommends using the dowel construction with all types of pre-laminated materials as well as many plywoods.
The dowel corner is considered a premium grade corner joint.
The dowel corner is especially advantageous for knock down applications due to the ease of assembly. The dowels are pre-inserted in the fronts & backs and the sides are pre-drilled to accept the dowels.

DBS Mixed

Boxes can be ordered with a combination of some of the available corner constructions.

Combinations include:

Nail front & Dovetail back
Nail front & Dowel back
These options allow for optimal corner constructions when mixing materials.

These options also accommodate special bottom construction requirements for different types of hardware.

DBS Nailed Corner

One of the corner joints DBS offers is Butt Joint / Nailed and glued construction. We use only high quality, state-of-the-art production equipment to produce this detail.

DBS offers a Butt Joint / Nailed construction where the corners are both glued and pin nailed.
The ends of the sides are rabetted to ensure dimensions and a clean glue joint.
The front and back sit inside the sides, leaving the end grain of the sides exposed.
The top edges of all four sides are the same height, or flush.
If hot melt is desired on recessed bottoms, please specify when ordering.
This is an economical corner construction and works well with all types of plywood and pre-laminated materials.

DBS Mitered

DBS offers a Mitered corner construction which produces a consistently clean look from all four sides of the box.

Available in plywood or solid materials, ¼” or thicker.
Minimum height is 1″
Maximum height is 6″
Minimum width or depth is 5″
Maximum width or depth is 24″
Mitered corners provide a decorative and functional look from all sides for display or gift boxes.
